Afro-Scottish Events 2026: Voices Beyond Borders
What happens when voices from different places meet in one room?
Afro-Scottish Events returns for its second edition with Voices Beyond Borders, an evening of poetry, music, culture and community celebrating the stories, sounds and experiences that connect us across borders.
We are returning after our inaugural edition last year with an expanded programme featuring artists from Scotland, Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and beyond.
Expect an evening of:
🎤 Award-winning spoken word and poetry
🎶 Live music and instrumental performances
🥁 African drumming
🎵 Scottish bagpipes
✨ The world premiere of the Afro-Scottish Poetry Choir, a specially commissioned collaborative performance bringing together 12 poets, singers and performers exploring food, memory, culture and belonging.
The programme will also feature Anoraq Sound, with Inside Voices providing live improvised musical accompaniment to selected performances.

Whether you’re part of one of the cultures represented on stage, a lover of poetry and music, a creative yourself, or simply looking for an evening of meaningful entertainment and connection, you are warmly invited.
🎟️ Accessible ticketing
We believe cost should not prevent anyone from experiencing the arts. Tickets are therefore offered on a sliding scale:
Free Access – for anyone on a low income or unable to attend because of ticket cost
£5 Student
£10 Standard
£15 Supporter – for those who would like to contribute a little extra towards the event
