About this Event
Women Who Pour Into Legacy is a cultural convergence honoring women and girls in California alongside the women of the Kegite Club.
Hosted by Afriicionado, in partnership with AWỌ and Stem Social. And, in collaboration with the Golden State Kegite Club, this gathering invites guests into a living, breathing expression of African heritage—rooted in fellowship, storytelling, folk music, and shared humanity. This is not a performance to watch from the sidelines. It is an experience to step into, participate in, and connect with.
The afternoon begins with a welcome address and a presentation on the history of Kegites and the women of Kegite . Throughout the evening, tradition unfolds organically through ceremonial palm wine pouring, community folk singing, rhythmic drumming, gyration, storytelling, and communal dance. Every element is intentional—honoring ancestral practices while embracing modern inclusivity, with women at the center of the experience.
At this event, food and drinks will be available for purchase. Palm wine will be provided free on site by
AWỌ and Golden State Convergence | Americana Achaivar Plus.
What the Evening Holds
A Cultural Welcome & Shared Grounding
Guests are welcomed into a warm, vibrant atmosphere that immediately signals connection and belonging. The gathering opens by grounding the space—acknowledging ancestry, womanhood, community, and shared humanity.
Introducing the Kegite Club & Its Legacy
The evening includes moments dedicated to sharing the history, philosophy, and global presence of the Kegite Club. Guests will learn about the Club’s roots, its values of fellowship and expression, and the important role women play within the community—especially within the Golden State chapter.
For those new to Kegite culture, this is an invitation into understanding—not just an organization, but a living cultural tradition.
Culture in Motion: Song, Drum & Gyration
Folk singing, drumming, and Kegite gyration flow throughout the gathering as communal expressions rather than staged performances. Call-and-response songs, layered rhythms, movement, and dance invite participation, joy, and collective energy.
Women and girls are celebrated as leaders, carriers, and creators of culture—guiding the rhythm and spirit of the night.
The Tradition of Palm Wine
A meaningful ceremonial moment centers on the tradition of palm wine—its symbolism, significance, and role in African fellowship. This ritual honors unity, respect, and the bonds that tie community together, inviting guests to witness and engage with tradition in a respectful, inclusive way.
