Talkin the Drum presents:
A couple of African drumming workshops with Tsoof Baras.
Beginners Workshop
Wednesday 7 - 9 pm
Intermediate Workshop
Thursday 7 - 9 pm

For the beginner workshop:
Hand drum fundamentals. Covering technique, coordination and understanding of rhythm. Building a groove together and building confidence on Djembe. For beginner drummers looking to develop their technique and build their rhythmic confidence.
Intermediate/advanced drummers are also welcome to come and play douns. Will put together a trad setup for you to play grooves in trad style.
For the intermediate/advanced workshop:
Developing speed and incorporating common phrases into solo ideas. Building a solo vocabulary through transcribed solos, relaxing into creativity when asked to solo, staying in time while soloing, finding ideas that work no matter what!
Everyone will be invited to solo, but it’s not mandatory. Everyone will be asked to play support on douns and djembe throughout.

Investment:
$40 (or $45 if needing to hire a drum)
For Intermediate drummers who wish to attend both, the total cost would be $60.
