The annual African American Read-In + Family Day will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, at Piedmont Arts. The event is FREE, and all ages are welcome.🗣️Griot Fred Motley will entertain with folktales.
🪘Kuumba West African Dance Company will share traditional folklore through song, music, and dance.
🖍️Kids can create a free craft with the Teen Arts Council.
🍪Enjoy free snacks and drinks.
🏆Enter to win door prizes from the Piedmont Arts Guild.
📚Share your favorite books during the Read-In.

This event is held in conjunction with the National African American Read-In, a groundbreaking initiative that encourages communities to read together, with a focus on African American books and authors. The initiative was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. It has reached more than six million participants around the world.
