African American Cultural Experiences Trolley Tour
Join Newport News Tourism for a guided trolley tour exploring the city’s rich African American heritage. From historic landmarks to cultural sites, this tour highlights the people and places that have shaped Newport News.
Date: Saturday, June 28, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM – 1:15 PM (Approx. 3-3.5 hours)
Start & End Location: The Mariners' Museum and Park
Tickets: $20 (includes a special souvenir)

- Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center
- Torggler Center for the Arts/Ferguson Center
- Newsome House
- Lee Hall Depot
- Public sculptures honoring African American history
Trolley Features:
- Heated and air-conditioned for comfort

- Wheelchair accessible (please call the Visitor Center at 757-886-7777 when reserving your spot to adjust seating capacity)
Age Requirement: This tour is for guests ages 5 and up only. Due to the trolley’s design, it does not have seat belts or accommodations for car seats, making it unsuitable for younger children. We encourage families with children 5 and over to join us for a magical evening celebrating the season!
