About this Event

Africa Day is celebrated globally every year on 25 May to mark the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in 1963, now the African Union. It symbolises the shared struggle for liberation, unity, and progress across the African continent. Today, Africa Day is a celebration of the rich diversity of African cultures, its languages, food, fashion, music, innovation, and contributions to the world.

At Westminster, we are proud to celebrate the cultures, identities, nationalities and heritage that make our organisation unique. Colleagues of African descent come from many different countries, tribes and traditions. Africa Day is a chance for all staff and allies to come together in unity, joy and understanding.

This year’s Africa Day Celebration offers:

  • Authentic African cuisine
  • Live entertainment
  • DJ + dancing
  • African material for purchase
  • Raffle + prize

This is our first Westminster-wide Africa Day event, and we hope it becomes an annual tradition of cultural pride and community.
