Alexandre Dumas’ epic revenge tome gets a swashbuckling update in this lavish adaptation from screenwriting and directing duo Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière. Pierre Niney (THE BOOK OF SOLUTIONS, YVES SAINT LAURENT) stars as Edmond Dantès, a low-ranking sailor who has just been promoted to captain and can finally marry the upper-crust love of his life. But on the day of his wedding, he is betrayed by those closest to him, declared a Napoleon loyalist and sent to rot in the Château d’If prison.
