AECB Conference Fringe - Proud Place
About this Event
Join Ste Garlick, of BDP (formerly URBED), on a guided tour of this innovative and ambitious project.
A golden example of how co-design, energy efficiency, and care can shape architecture with genuine social purpose, The Proud Place stands as one of the UK's most distinctive and meaningful community buildings. Join architect Ste Garlick, who led the design and delivery of Manchester's LGBT+ community centre, for a behind-the-scenes tour exploring how years of meaningful co-design shaped a building that places wellbeing and belonging at its heart.
Designed to AECB CarbonLite, the project offers an honest insight into the realities of delivering high-performance buildings. While it narrowly missed its airtightness target, its exceptional performance across occupant experience and operational performance demonstrate the value of fabric-first design, while revealing important lessons about the performance gap that all can learn from.
Tickets are restricted to those with AECB Conference tickets and you will be asked to present you conference ticket when you attend. Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended. If you change your mind or can no longer make it, please let us know so we can make your place available to others.
