As a CASA Advocate, you’ll be trained to support and advocate for a child in the court system—ensuring they have a voice and a chance at a safe, permanent home.
📅 Introductory Class
Date: Tuesday, September 9, 2025
Time: 5:30 – 8:00 PM
Location: LaSalle County CASA Office, 110 E. Main Street, Ottawa, IL
👉 This first class is an overview session where you’ll learn more about what CASA does, what the training looks like, and what it means to make the advocate commitment.
📚 Full Training Program
Following the introductory class, participants will continue with a series of training sessions designed to prepare you for your role as an Advocate. Topics include:
-Understanding the child welfare system
-The role of the Advocate in court
-How to build trust and advocate for children effectively
-Working with families, schools, and service providers
Each training session combines classroom learning, discussion, and real-world examples. Attendance at all sessions is required to become certified.
✅ Requirements to Become an Advocate:
-Must be 21 years or older
-Complete background checks
-Attend all training classes
Commit to serving as a CASA Advocate for at least 18 months (approx. 10–15 hours per month)
