Summer Camp Session: Adventure Sailing at Columbia Sailing Club – Lake Murray, SCAges: 9 - 16 years old
Prerequisite: At least 1 Sailing 101 Camp Session
Weekly Sessions: June 1 - July 24
Time: 9:30am - 4:30pm M-F
Set sail on an unforgettable summer adventure with Columbia Sailing Club’s Adventure Sailing class! Designed for campers ages 9-16 who have completed at least one beginner sailing session, this class offers the perfect opportunity to take your sailing skills to the next level while enjoying all the fun of summer camp. Whether you’re an experienced sailor or just starting out, you’ll discover the thrill of exploring Lake Murray in our fleet of keelboats.
This program is all about having fun and building lasting memories with friends on the water. Campers will spend their days navigating to and exploring the picturesque islands of Lake Murray, learning how to navigate the lake’s wind and weather patterns, and gaining hands-on experience with different types of boats. With a focus on teamwork, problem-solving, seamanship, and independence, each day presents new challenges and opportunities to grow as a sailor and as a person.

Master the Wind, the Weather, and the Map: Sailing isn’t just about steering a boat—it’s also about understanding the wind, the weather, and the water. Campers will learn to read weather patterns, predict wind shifts, utilize “Dead Reckoning” and understand how these elements affect their sailing. These important skills will not only make them better sailors, but will deepen their connection to nature.

Campers will work together to complete sailing challenges, share in the excitement of competitive races, and learn leadership skills that extend far beyond the water.
