On Sunday, December 1, at 5:30 PM, the St. Alban’s Choir will present Advent Lessons and Carols. Following a similar format to that of the Christmas service of Nine Lessons and Carols, Advent Lessons and Carols is built around the theme of expectant waiting and preparation for both the celebration of Christmas and the return of Christ at the Second Coming.
Five short Bible readings which tell of the coming of the Lord, his redeeming and saving power, and the fulfillment of creation, will be interspersed with carols by Jonathan Dove, Orlando Gibbons, Paul Manz, John Scott, Mark Sirett, and Howard Skempton, and hymns of the Advent season such as Lo! he comes with clouds descending and O come, O come, Emmanuel.
Nursery care will be available.
