About this Event
Description: In this workshop, we will explore the sgraffito technique, applied to flat leather hard clay shapes. Sgraffito in Italian means “scratched through” and that is how we will apply imagery to our pieces: by applying underglaze and scratching through the surface to reveal the clay body beneath. We will learn about the significance of the hamsa hand symbol across religions and cultures around the world. Choose the hamsa, or a different shape to practice your sgraffito designs and create a unique wall hanging. No previous clay experience is necessary, this is open to beginner to advanced ceramic artists.
