A River Safari Conservation TourThe Adur River around Shoreham is a very special and protected site - known as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This intertidal stretch of river and site of mud flats and salt marsh is a haven for many birds providing rich nutrition and also roosting places. It is also a much loved paddling destination with its beautiful scenery and easy accessibility from Shoreham By Sea.
This two hour safari will begin with a short introduction about the unique characteristics of the SSSI. Then we will take to the river. Along the journey we will share guidance and knowledge to help you paddle with care and reduce your impact on this fragile habitat.
Who’s it for?
These safaris are aimed at:
- Experienced local paddlers wishing to learn more about how to protect the river.
- Paddle tour leaders looking to learn more about our SSSI
This trip is a community event with a recommended donation of £15 to support the work of our Friends group in raising awareness of the river.
