About this Event

Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in adults 18 and over. It gives you the tools you need to start the conversation and provide initial support to someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.

This is an all-day class presented in person from 9 am until 5 pm with a lunch break that is typically 30 minutes. You may choose to leave for this break, or you can bring lunch.

There are a couple of brief online surveys to complete before class. You will be emailed instructions on how to complete these steps about 2 weeks before the class date

You will learn:

  • Common mental health concerns adults.
  • How to reduce stigma.
  • How to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges.
  • A 5-step action for helping an adult who may be facing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.
  • The importance of self-care for the Mental Health First Aider
