About this Event
Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in adults 18 and over. It gives you the tools you need to start the conversation and provide initial support to someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.
Delivery: In-Person at 1515 Heritage Drive, McKinney, TX 75069 in the Trinity Training Room.
(Trinity Training Room is located upstairs, down the right hallway, and last room on the right.)
You will learn:
- Common mental health concerns among adults.
- How to reduce stigma.
- How to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges .
- A 5-step action plan to help an adult who may be facing a mental health challenge or crisis. Including how to connect them to appropriate help when needed
- The importance of self-care for the Mental Health First Aider
* Please do not register for this class if you have taken Adult Mental Health First Aid in the last 12 months.
**Collin County, TX residents (or those working in the county) and those in the surrounding area will be given preference. If you are from outside this area you can find classes near you here: https://www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org/
Participants that complete the full course will earn a three-year certification.
