Every Monday at 6pm, starting 1/12/26, join Jan and learn all about Locking! Enjoy dancing, getting a great workout, and learning more about hip hop dance culture!

Locking/Campbellocking is a classic funk style known for fast-paced movements intertwined with sudden stops and its playful character. It was invented by the late Don Campbell, and was later popularized by the Lockers on the notable TV show Soul Train. This class will explore the foundations of the style, such as grooves, the Lock, Points, and Wrist Rolls, while diving into the history context of Locking and Funk. During each class, key movements will be drilled and combined into a short routine, ending with freestyle sessions to nourish one’s musicality and individuality. Beginners and veterans in dance of all styles, bathed in the tunes of Funk music, will be able to thrive and have fun together in the supportive and joyous environment!
