Adelaide Cinephonic presents: Shella Record - a Reggae Mystery, another exclusive film screening at Lowlife Basement Bar.
Shella Record- A Reggae Mystery is a feature-length documentary about the search for lost Jamaican singer Sheila Rickards. After discovering an incredible thrift store record, an artist and vinyl fanatic sets off on a ten-year quest to find the lost reggae singer, enlisting the help of psychics, private investigators, Reggae legends, and a ghost hunter on a surreal adventure.
The film premiered at Hot Docs in 2019 and sold out at Doc NYC the same year, and has aired on CBC (Canada) and TVJ (Jamaica).
Our screening will feature an exclusive interview with the filmmakers, and you will hear from some of Adelaide’s most avid vinyl junkies as they take you through some of their most loved secret weapons. Do any of them have their very own ‘Shella Record’?
This one-off screening is being held at LowLife Basement Bar (beneath Rhino Room) on Thursday, December 3rd.
Tickets are limited.
Adelaide Cinephonic brings global music cinema to SA and is run by Aaron and Richard, two music fans who love the cinema.
All proceeds go to covering costs and officially licensing the films, giving money back to the directors, producers and artists all over the world.
