Dr. Christensen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University and PI of the Christensen Lab for Wildlife Population Health.
Emerging wildlife diseases pose a growing threat to both ecological systems and public health, underscoring the need for integrated One Health approaches. In this talk, Dr. Sonja Christensen will present her research on the ecological and climatic drivers of wildlife populations and disease processes. She will highlight advancements in population estimation, disease surveillance, and the evaluation of control efforts. Through interdisciplinary partnerships with veterinarians, ecologists, and policymakers, Dr. Christensen’s work strengthens disease management and builds capacity across jurisdictions to proactively address emerging health challenges.
