About this Event
Webinar #1 will focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), explicitly addressing racism in service provision and coordination. Racism remains a pervasive barrier in many sectors, including the human and social services fields. We are honored to have Dr. Joseph Hill as our keynote speaker. Dr. Hill, Director of the Center for Black Deaf Studies at Gallaudet University, has dedicated his career to breaking down barriers for Black Deaf individuals. His presentation will offer invaluable insights into systemic racism within service provision and how we can work together to dismantle these obstacles and achieve more equitable service delivery.
Following Dr. Hill's keynote, we will have a presentation by Dr. Gloshanda Lawyer and Kenton Myers, continuing the conversation on this critical issue. While the topic is still being finalized, we are confident their expertise will bring further clarity and inspiration to this discussion.
We will conclude the session with the ADARA Award for Outstanding Direct Services to Deaf People and the announcement of the 2025 Board Elections. This award celebrates individuals who have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Deaf individuals through direct services. It's a moment to recognize the dedication and hard work of those who serve on the frontlines of support for the Deaf community. We encourage you to nominate deserving individuals for this prestigious award.
