This course explores the traditional use and scientific research on adaptogenic herbs and probiotics for supporting stress resilience, immune function, and overall health. Participants will study adaptogen herbs such as Eleuthero, Schisandra, Rhodiola, Ginseng, and Ashwagandha, learning their therapeutic applications in clinical practice. The course also covers probiotic history, types, potency, and evidence-based clinical uses, enabling participants to select appropriate probiotics for different populations.


LEARN TO:

-Describe the role of adaptogenic herbs in supporting immune function, enhancing resilience to stress, and promoting resistance to infections.

-Select appropriate adaptogenic herbs from diverse cultural traditions and geographic regions to enhance clinical practice.

-Understand the role of probiotics and their evidence-based applications in clinical practice.

-Differentiate among probiotic types and identify appropriate probiotics for various patient populations.

-Identify factors that influence probiotic potency and effectiveness.


ABOUT SERGEI SHAGINYAN:

Sergei Shaginyan is a physician trained in the former USSR, where he earned his medical degree from the prestigious Moscow Medical School with a master’s degree in pediatrics. He completed advanced training in psychiatry, worked in psychiatric departments for three years, and later pursued residency training in pediatric neurology followed by a postgraduate fellowship (PhD program) in adult neurology and electrophysiology.

After completing his PhD, Shaginyan devoted his career to holistic medicine, integrating herbology, energy healing, and mind-body therapies into his practice. In California, he is licensed in acupuncture and herbology and is nationally board-certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM/NCBAHM).

Shaginyan has published more than 30 articles on alternative medicine and has appeared on numerous radio and television programs. He has also taught at several acupuncture institutions, including Yo San University, Emperor's College, and American University of Complementary Medicine, as well as various massage therapy schools.
