Course Description
This course is an immersive four-hour journey that delves into the realm of neurodiversity and the adaptations of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) that can help you better support your clients. We begin with an introduction to ADHD, unraveling its multifaceted nature and exploring the subtle nuances of neurodivergence.
Through an exploration of ADHD, it will be demonstrated how neurodivergence shows up in real life scenarios. We'll navigate the labyrinth of ADHD symptoms, empowering you with the knowledge needed to have the clarity and confidence to work with and better understand ADHD.
The focus of DBT will be specifically dedicated to the recommended adaptations of DBT tailored for the neurodivergent brain. This facet of the course will equip you with a treasure trove of coping techniques that have been finely attuned to support the intricate wiring of neurodiverse minds.
Imagine this: you, the provider, facing a newly diagnosed client with ADHD. With the tools gleaned from this workshop, you seamlessly identify the unique manifestations of ADHD, fostering a deeper understanding of your client's struggles. You employ a tailored DBT-neurodivergent toolkit that will allow you to support your client while also fostering a positive connection between you, an experience where your neurodivergent client can feel seen without the social expectations of masking.
This training is most suitable for individuals who already have some training and experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy. This is not a fundamentals of DBT (DBT 101) course. If you are interested in a fundamentals of DBT course, we will be running one in November. Learn more by visiting www.questionofcare.com/training/calendar.
By the time you complete this training, you will be equipped with specific knowledge and resources tailored for the neurodivergent brain. You'll have the skills to identify ADHD symptoms, and to seamlessly adapt your already existing DBT skills/toolkit to the unique needs of neurodivergent individuals. Join us in this academic adventure, enrich your practice, and empower your clients on their journeys of self-discovery and growth.
