SSAA Newcastle and our Branch have been in communication regarding an ADA shoot/BBQ social day.We would join in with their group to shoot 3 rimfire matches on Sunday 20th October 2024. We see this as a great opportunity for us as a branch for some of the following reasons:
● Skills development
● Social activity / comradery / enjoyment / expanding our network
● Rimfire is cost effective
Location: 668 E Seaham Rd, East Seaham NSW 2324
Date: 20th October 2024
● Members who do not have “Target” on their licence would need to complete a P650 form, which would be of no additional cost
● Total cost per user on the day would be approx. $35.00. SSAA will throw on a BBQ Lunch (Snags, Chicken Sticks and Salads).
● Standard/subsonic ammunition and using .22lr only as it is a Sunday
8:30am = Rimfire trying to shoot a fly at 200.
This is a competition shot off the bench at 200. The target has a fly printed on it, but the sheet is an A3 page with score lines marked on it.
9am = Rimfire field rifle.
This is a standing competition shot in the field rifle end of the range (Right hand end) There are restrictions on the rifle weight and scope for sanctioned competitions, however as we are being invited to experience the competition format, we will be welcomed to use our own .22’s. SSAA are working to promote participation, so the rules about rifle weight and scope are going to be relaxed, with competitors using “open” or “factory” rifles competing against one another, rather than against the guys with custom rifles etc.
12pm = Rimfire heavy rifle class bench rest score 5x50m. Benchrest competition for “Score” across five targets. This is just another way of scoring, with the heavy rifle meaning you can use an open class rifle with an unlimited magnification scope. This one is one of the more forgiving competitions.
