An enigmatic figure clad in a leather jacket roams the tracks. A body floats downstream... Delinquents gather beneath a derelict train bridge. Welcome to the place where rails and water meet... Dee and his friend, Ken, waste another day; listening to the radio until it conks out, throwing rocks at the remnants of industry, being pestered by a stranger... Dee wanders through the place that he calls home, taking in his surroundings and contemplating life. Consumed by an ambient sadness, Dee bears witness to many strange sights, culminating in a chance encounter with another soul who is just as lost and lonesome as he is.
With filmmaker Drayden DeCosta in attendance!
Programmed and with an introduction by Stephen Broomer
74 minutes. Digital projection.
AD HOC aims to rethink what an experience of cinema can be. We seek to reposition historical landmarks and buried treasures within the on-going tradition of experimental and other non- commercial modes of filmmaking, drawing on work from Toronto, throughout Canada, and internationally. Within these parameters, we aspire to diversity in programming, as well as to multimedia and interdisciplinary screening events that bring together varied communities.
AD HOC = Stephen Broomer, Madi Piller, Jim Shedden, Bart Testa.
