John Hoddinott
John is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, & private music educator based in the tri-state area. John started playing guitar at age 11 when he fell in love with the sounds of the electric guitar he heard in his older brother’s rock bands. Now, his love of music spans from genres such as pop, early to modern rock, blues, jazz, and classical. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, John was privileged to study with prolific jazz performers and educators. John is an in demand pit orchestra musician in Fairfield and Westchester county, accompanying performances of all types and styles. Additionally, he can be seen performing live across the tri-state area with his jazz trio and is currently serving as the Director of Music at The United Methodist Church of Westport & Weston. In addition to his performing, he is the founder and director of The Community Conservatory, a Danbury-based 501(c)3 organization with the mission to provide students from underserved families and communities access to private music lessons from professional educators and performers.
Sierra Mendoza
Sierra Mendoza is a pianist, vocalist, composer, and music teacher from Greenwich, Connecticut. She is a sophomore at Greenwich High School and has been playing piano and singing for seven years, since she was eight years old. She enjoys playing classical, jazz, and contemporary pieces and singing musical theater and classical songs. Just as much as she finds playing the piano and singing interesting, she finds music theory and history fascinating. She is certified in all levels up to level 9 in both the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Piano and Voice Certificate Programs, aiming to receive ARCT Piano and Voice Diplomas during her senior year or first year of college. Her achievements include two regional RCM Gold Medals, an RCM State Award, and being a New England NATS Finalist. In an effort to be more involved with music in her community, she participates in her school’s musicals, volunteers as a piano and voice private tutor for the Do Re Mi Project, and is part of the Stanwich Church Adult Choir. She is very excited to be a part of the Greenwich A Cappella Fundraising Concert!
Diya Subramanian
Diya Subramanian is a freshman at Greenwich High School, and she has been in Greenwich A Cappella since fourth grade. She started in one of the junior groups, then the elite group, and this is now her second year in Soundwaves. She has been playing guitar for over five years and singing for over nine as she started performing Indian classical music at the age of five. At Greenwich High School, Diya plays violin in concert orchestra and sings in concert choir. Throughout middle school, she participated in the Western Regional Music Festival for violin, and did musical theatre, which she hopes to continue during high school. 2026 will be Diya’s fourth time going to the National A Cappella Convention which she cannot wait for in the Spring!
