Join us in viewing the award winning documentary‘Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope‘
by the late James Redford, followed by a Q&A with a panel of experts ranging from health, psychology, early years and education.
The term ACES stands for Adverse Childhood Experiences and has been used for over 25 years to describe a set of traumatic events that somebody may have experienced in childhood. Studies across the world including in Wales and Scotland have consistently proven the strong association between ACES and adversity and poor health outcomes. Decades worth of scientific evidence looking this has helped us, not only to understand the neurobiology of trauma, but to understand how we can mitigate its impact on the brain and the body and ultimately improve life and health outcomes for children.
Making a commitment towards being aware of and understanding ACES as an Island will have the potential to make a real and measurable impact on areas such as education, health, employment and youth justice. The need to translate the science into intervention policies in our society cannot be greater than it is today.
