Abu Dhabi Art Fair

The Abu Dhabi Art Fair, a premier event launched in 2009 at the Emirates Palace, has evolved significantly over the years, showcasing the vibrant art scene in the United Arab Emirates. Growing from 42 galleries during its inaugural edition to an impressive 142 galleries in its latest edition, the fair is organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and has established itself as a critical platform for artists and galleries alike. The fair not only serves as a key sales opportunity for participating galleries but also acts as a venue for ambitious installations and site-specific works, engaging a wide public audience through a diverse array of art forms.
Throughout the year, Abu Dhabi Art emphasizes public engagement, with a program that includes art installations, exhibitions, talks, and events held at various locations across the emirate. This culminates annually in the Abu Dhabi Art Fair itself, held at Manarat Al Saadiyat, a cultural center that has played a pivotal role in Abu Dhabi’s art ecosystem since its opening. Manarat Al Saadiyat is a gateway to the Saadiyat Cultural District, which is home to iconic institutions like the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. The fair has also featured contributions from guest curators who bring diverse global perspectives through exhibitions and performances.
As the fair prepares to conclude its 17th edition in 2025, it will transition to Frieze Abu Dhabi in 2026, marking a new chapter in its legacy. The inaugural edition of Frieze Abu Dhabi will take place at the same venue, Manarat Al Saadiyat, showcasing the continuation of this influential event. Through partnerships with various organizations, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi aims to elevate Abu Dhabi's status as a leading international cultural destination, focusing on innovation, authenticity, and the promotion of its rich heritage. The fair is part of a broader strategy to enhance the culture and tourism sectors within the Emirate, utilizing programs that encompass music, visual arts, and a commitment to fostering positive change through cultural initiatives.
