Learn to crochet with Merion Willis, our resident yarn guru, for a ten week course designed especially for absolute beginners (rusty crocheters welcome too!)
You'll learn how to read patterns, learn basic stitches and make simple to intermediate projects. We'll be working on hats, scarves, mittens, granny squares, blankets and more!
Course overview:
Weeks 1, 2 and 3: Learning Stitches
In the first three weeks of the class, we'll learn a selection of basic stitches, and how they work, making square swatches that we will use for a cushion cover later in the course. We'll learn about yarn, hooks, and fibre, where to buy them and which yarns are best for which projects.
Weeks 4 and 5: Beginner Projects
Make a bobble hat and a matching scarf in chunky yarn with chunky hooks, perfect to make as gifts or to keep warm in the chilly weather!
Weeks 6 and 7: Make Mittens to Fit!
In these two weeks, we'll make mittens to fit your hands, and learn how to make crochet ribbing.
Weeks 8 and 9: Let's Make a Blanket!
Using chunky yarn, we'll make a super striped blanket using new stitches along the way, perfect to keep you cosy through the winter, and a fun pattern you will learn how to adapt for different sizes.
Week 10: Decorative Touches
For our final week, we'll learn how to create borders and edgings that you can use for any project!
