Absinthe inspires a sense of mystery and sinister allure like no other spirit. It fueled a generation and inspired writers, poets and visual artists of the Belle Époque before being banned. But, what is Absinthe and how is it made? Why was it banned? Did it cause madness and ruin? How did it become legal again and is the new absinthe authentic? Join Dr. Justin Sledge for an exploration of the myths and history surrounding this curious spirit.
Dr. Justin Sledge is an award winning lecturer in philosophy and religion, host of the popular YouTube channel Esoterica where he explores topics in Western Esotericism. He has recently partnered with Detroit City Distillery to craft the historically accurate Absinthe Supérieure Isabella named after the 16th century alchemist Isabella Cortese.
