Above & Across Twin Cities presented by Jamie Hiner and Brian Johnson
About this Event
Above & Across Twin Cities captures the stunning beauty and natural elegance of Minneapolis-St. Paul as seen from the sky.
Showcasing historic architecture, the modern skyline, notable landmarks, and natural scenery, the images capture the twin cities' vibrant character and historical significance. This unique collection creates a contemporary portrait of Minneapolis-St. Paul, captured in all four seasons.
Through a series of breathtaking images, readers are invited to explore the city's iconic landmarks, including the Minnesota State Capitol, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and the Stone Arch Bridge, as well as lesser-known corners of the city that are equally captivating.
Above and Across Twin Cities features stunning aerial shots that offer a bird's-eye view of the city, capturing its diverse skyline and urban landscape in an entirely new light. With its striking visuals and thoughtful commentary, including a foreword by Peggy Flanagan, Lt. Governor of Minnesota, this photography book is a must-have for anyone who loves Minneapolis-St. Paul or wants to experience its beauty from a new perspective.
Born and raised in Minnesota, Jamie Hiner has a career focused around real estate, architecture, family, and wedding photography and videography. Jamie developed an interest in photography while in college at Gustavus Adolphus College, and that passion expanded to the point where he never wanted to go anywhere without his camera. To Jamie, photography is a collective effort to document and capture history, share human-to-human interactions and beautiful landscapes, and freeze any moment in time and provide a different perspective on it, even in what may seem mundane and boring. Jamie believes that anytime and anywhere you go, there are always opportunities to capture beautiful and captivating moments. Everything has a story and a journey in life, and that’s what drives Jamie further into using these tools to provide priceless moments to look back on.
Born and raised in Le Sueur, Minnesota, Brian Johnson never imagined he'd one day find his passion behind a camera. Inspired by his love for creativity, he picked up a camera with no real expectations, but it quickly developed into something much deeper. Around that same time, Brian began his journey of sobriety, and photography soon became a new kind of outlet. Over the years, that passion has not only kept him grounded but also pushed him to see the world through a new lens, both literally and personally.
Drawn to the outdoors since childhood, Brian found his focus in landscape photography. His camera has taken him from the cliffs of the Minnesota North Shore to the volcanoes of Iceland, the fjords of Norway, the jungles of Indonesia, and the rugged peaks of Argentina. Whether it’s hiking through the mountains or sitting quietly by a lake at sunrise, he’s most at home with a camera in hand and adventure close by.
These days, he’s rarely alone on those adventures. His travel companion, a fluffy, blue-eyed cat named Azure, often tags along — hiking trails, kayaking, and even posing for the occasional photo. Azure has become something of a fan favorite online, but Brian doesn’t mind sharing the spotlight. Together, they capture moments that remind people to slow down, explore more, and find beauty in the wild places around them.
Jamie and his wife are big travel enthusiasts who aim to see as much of this wild world we all live in, and to capture the mood, energy, textures, and overall character along the way.
