The 12th Annual Above & Beyond Awards Ceremony, "A Blue Tie Affair", honoring Detroit Police, Fire and EMS, will take place on Wednesday, November 13, 2023 at the beautiful Ford Field Atrium

The signature event hosted by the Detroit Public Safety Foundation recognizes Detroit Police Officers, Firefighters and EMS personnel for going "Above & Beyond" the call of duty. Recipients receive the Medal of Valor for their bravery and service in the face of great danger. The Purple Heart Award is given to those who were injured or killed in the line of duty, making at times the greatest sacrifice in service for others. The Emergency Medical Merit Award is for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) division to honor members for exceptional service.

In addition to recognizing our first responders, we will be presenting two awards to outstanding community partners. The Penske Corporation, represented by Bud Denker received the 2023 City Change Maker Award. This award was to recognize and honor the ways Penske has supported the City of Detroit, especially with the Grand Prix in Detroit.

Marathon Petroleum was recognized as the 2023 Public Safety Partner for its community to supporting public safety initiatives and specifically Detroit Police and Fire. Marathon Petroleum sponsors the DPD Explorers Program, a fully funding the mentoring program for youth in Detroit.

Are there any ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

• Valid State ID or Drivers License is required for entry. All ages are welcome

What are my parking options?

• Complimentary Parking in Ford Field Garage across from the entrance

What should I bring to the event?

• Bring your Valid State ID or Drivers License.
• Bring your printed ticket or emailed ticket located on your mobile device.
• Bring everyone in your group

Who can attend the VIP Reception?

• The VIP reception is for sponsors and ticket holders who have purchased a VIP ticket or who have sponsored the Above and Beyond Awards at a certain level.
• Sponsorship does NOT guarantee access to the VIP Reception
• Your organization pre-selects who will attend the VIP reception and have sent those names to us in advance.
• VIP Reception Tickets are available for sale if you already have a ticket to the event.

Will there be a coat check?

• Complimentary coat check will be available.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

• No. Your ticket is not transferable. Please make your selections carefully.

Can I update my registration information?

• Yes. You may update your registration while tickets are on sale using the Eventbrite System.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

• Yes. Please bring your printed ticket or emailed ticket on your mobile device.

What is the attire for the Above and Beyond Awards Ceremony?

• Our theme this year is "A Blue Tie Affair". We encourage you to wear your best BLUE after 5 attire.

Can I use someone else's ticket?

• No. The person's name on the ticket must match the person that attends the event with that ticket. Please make sure you update your registration information prior to the event for a smooth and fast check-in experience.

Will there be a virtual option to watch the event online?

• Not at this time.
