What comes for you when you sleep?
Abductee follows Andrew Freeman, a man plagued by lifelong
sleep paralysis who becomes convinced that something far
more unsettling is responsible for his nightly experiences.
When he pulls his sister Laurie into his desperate search for
the truth, the film becomes less about what's in the sky and
more about what belief, trauma, and obsession do to the
people we love most.
The film took more than a decade to complete, surviving lost
footage, production setbacks, and a distribution collapse
before finally reaching audiences. Hopp self-funded the
project and is personally running a grassroots theatrical
roadshow timed alongside the June 12 release of Steven
Spielberg's Disclosure Day. While Spielberg's film examines
extraterrestrial contact on a global scale, Abductee focuses on
its human and family-level cost.
