Abberton Egg-cellent Easter

Our popular Easter weekend event is back! It's time for an Egg-cellent adventure this Easter school holiday. Become an eggsplorer as you complete the Easter trail around the nature reserve. When you have finished, return to the pond area to collect your prize! You can also see if Spring has Sprung and have a go at pond dipping. Use one of our special nets and see what creatures you can catch in the water.

Please book tickets in advance. The event runs from 10:30 am to 3 pm, and you can arrive any time within this to complete the trail and pond dipping – both are included with your ticket. 

Please note the pond dipping might be busy at times as nets are limited (it is usually busier in the morning), but there is plenty of time for everyone to have a go! 

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

FAQs

🎫Who needs a ticket?

Children aged 18 months+ will require a ticket to attend. Adults do not require a ticket.

🌳Will the activities take place outside? 

Yes, activities will be outside. The crafts will take place in our shelter, so it is protected from rain - but still outdoors. 

🌍Where are you based? 

We are based in North Essex, local to Colchester.

🥜My Child Has Allergies. Will they be able to eat the snack? 

Allergen information is provided by you at the time of booking- we will make sure there is a suitable option for participants who have provided allergen details on their booking.

🥾What should we wear? 

Please dress for being outside - lots of layers. If it has been raining, the paths will be muddy and have lots of puddles, so wellies or boots are advised.

☕Is there a Cafe or shop? 

The visitor centre has a shop and café serving hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream, and light lunches. 

🐕‍🦺Can we bring a dog? 

Assistance dogs are welcome at our events. 

♿Will the event be accessible? 

Our trail follows one of our accessible gravel paths, so it is suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. There is also ramp access to the shelter
