On 19 June, 2026, join the African American Historical & Genealogical Society of Colorado Springs for our 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration at the African American Museum in Colorado Springs, located at the Westside Community Center Campus! We will have Historical & Genealogical booths, business vendors, kids activities & story hour, poetry, dancing, and reenactment performances, and museum tours!

This federal holiday is a significant part of our history as it recognizes the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to ensure that all enslaved people were freed. As the only African American historical and genealogical society with a museum in the state, it is our responsibility to keep this history alive.
