Come and celebrate A World That Grows - 2026 SALA Festival exhibition event.

Join us for the Exhibition Celebration Day - a public event, celebrating participating children as artists and providing an opportunity for audiences to engage with the work, artist Alice Lindstrom and the project.

The celebration event will include chalk and bubbles for the kids as well as music to enjoy as you explore the exhibition.

About the Exhibition

A World That Grows is an immersive installation featuring artworks by more than 300 children, developed through artist-led workshops across Carclew's creative spaces as part of the 2026 SALA Festival.

Every contribution is unique. Through playful exploration of colour, pattern and shape, children's artworks are woven throughout the exhibition alongside birds, insects, trees and flowers created by Alice, forming a vibrant garden of imagination in a layered space that is both carefully composed and open to change.

Together, these individual works create a shared landscape that celebrates creativity, collaboration and the many ways children imagine, make and see the world.

About Alice Lindstrom 

Alice Lindstrom is an artist and illustrator known for her vibrant, expressive work that is made using paper collage, papercut, painting and drawing. Her practice draws on mid-century illustration, folk art and early twentieth-century art movements, with a bold use of colour, decorative motifs and a focus on character and expression. 

She has illustrated a number of picture books for children, including Bees Are Our Friends, Fox and Bird, Beautiful Eggs and Another Year Around the Sun. 

She lives and works on Kaurna land in Adelaide with her husband, two young children and their two cats. 

For those unable to make it to the celebration event, Carclew will be open from 10am - 3pm on weekdays from the 3 - 31 August for you to wander in and have a look.
