Celebrate World Book Day with international authors, live readings and a conversation on the journey from reader to writer.
About this Event

Join us for a celebration of books and storytelling featuring writers Cynthia Menéndez (Galicia), Xavier Mas Craviotto (Catalonia), and Nicole Flattery (Ireland).

Alongside moderator Catherine Barbour, our guests will discuss their literary influences and the personal journey of becoming readers and, ultimately, writers. The session will also include live readings of their work in both the original languages and English translation.

Come celebrate this day of roses and books with us!

About the authors:

Cynthia Menéndez was born in Vigo in 1993. She studied English, French, Portuguese and Italian at universities in England, Wales, France, the United States, Canada and Portugal. She travels, reads and writes. She works as a bookseller. In 2025 she published Son coma glaciares los barcos de aceiro with Editorial Galaxia.

Xavier Mas Craviotto (Navàs, 1996) is a philologist and writer. For four years he was a lecturer in Catalan language and culture at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom. He is one of the co-founders of Com ho diria, a digital platform specialising in Catalan youth slang. He has published the novels La mort lenta (Documenta Prize 2018) and La pell del món, as well as the poetry collections Renills de cavall negre (Art Jove Salvador Iborra Award 2018), La gran nàusea and La llum subterrània (Ausiàs March Prize 2023). He has also recently published a collection of short stories, Animals inexpressius.

Nicole Flattery's books include the short story collection Show Them a Good Time and the novel Nothing Special. Her work has appeared in the London Review of Books, the New York Review of Books and Harpers, amongst others. She lives in Dublin.

Conversation in English, with readings in Catalan, Galician, English and Spanish.
