About this Event

A Walk in the Daylight is coming to Kingston, NY.

Author and creative entrepreneur Rashon E. Forrest will bring A Walk in the Daylight: Kingston, NY Edition to the community where she grew up on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 8:45 a.m.

The walk will be a 4-mile walk around Dietz Stadium.

After launching A Walk in the Daylight in Washington, D.C. in 2025, Forrest is bringing the experience to Kingston as part of a growing vision to transform her personal testimony into an opportunity for communities to walk in awareness, remembrance, gratitude and triumph.

THREE COLORS. THREE CAUSES. ONE WALK.

Because September brings awareness to several causes with personal and community significance, participants in the Kingston walk are encouraged to wear yellow, blue or orange.

Yellow represents Spina Bifida Awareness, recognizing the condition Forrest was born with and has lived with throughout her life.

Blue represents Hydrocephalus Awareness, observed during September and another significant part of Forrest’s personal story.

Orange represents Leukemia Awareness, also observed in September. The color carries special meaning for the Kingston event in recognition of Elder Doris Schuyler, Pastor of Riverview Missionary Baptist Church in Kingston, who is a leukemia survivor.

Together, the three colors represent a larger message at the heart of A Walk in the Daylight: behind every awareness ribbon is a person, a family and a story.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO WALK TO BE PART OF THE WALK

Despite its name, A Walk in the Daylight is designed so that walking is not required to participate.

Those who wish to walk will be invited to take part on the track at Dietz Stadium. Community members who cannot or prefer not to walk are encouraged to sit in the stadium's stands or bleachers, watch the event and cheer participants on.

Friends, families, caregivers, survivors and community supporters are all welcome.

The goal is not speed, distance or competition. The event is about showing up.
