About this Event
A Village of Discovery: The History and Diversity of Science in Woods Hole
Thursday, August 1st, at 4pm
For many in Falmouth, Woods Hole is, well, somewhat mysterious. It often is a surprise to learn that there are six or more distinct science institutions in the village. How did this small village become an internationally known center for biology, biomedical research, ocean sciences, and planetary workings and climate research? This talk will outline the history and connections among the science institutions in Wood Hole, and the nature and global impact of their research.
John Stegeman is a Sr. Scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Director of the Woods Hole Center for Oceans and Human Health. He has been at WHOI since 1971.
