A Sunnyside Historical Society presentation about two 19th century women with unconventional lifestyles and connections to Jameson Ave.
About this Event

The Sunnyside Historical Society's Meghan Edmonds returns to Back Lane Studios on Valentine's Day for another of her talks. This time she's offering an antidote -- with humour -- to all the sweetness of chocolates and roses!
On Saturday, Feb. 14 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm, Meghan explores the stories of two women with Jameson Ave. and challenging stories to connect them. One is Anna Jameson, above left, who ditched her husband Robert Jameson (the street was named after him) and pursued her career as a successful writer. Clara Ford, on the other hand, was accused of murdering the son of a wealthy family on the doorstep of their mansion at 28 Jameson. Both women bucked the 19th-century conventions of their day. Meghan will explain.

Space at our studio at 9 Neepawa Ave. in Roncesvalles is limited. Book your seat for free on Eventbrite. Donations welcome at the studio.

Be warned! Meghan invites audience participation. She just might ask you to play a part in one of her little history-inspired skits! Drop by! Take a break from buying flowers, wine or whatever Valentine's Day treat you were planning and have some fun!
