About this Event

We’re excited to announce a very special wine dinner at SER, hosted by Víctor Fernández, Cellar Master, featuring an exceptional selection of wines from legendary Spanish winemaker Mariano García.

With a career that began at Vega Sicilia and continued through iconic projects such as Mauro, San Roman, and Garmón, Mariano García is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern Spanish wine.

Throughout the evening, Víctor Fernández will guide guests through a curated tasting of these remarkable wines, thoughtfully paired with a special multi-course menu from our kitchen—an intimate experience celebrating craftsmanship, tradition, and the legacy of Familia Fernández.

Family

Bodegas Mauro was the García family’s first winery in the Duero Valley. Followed by San Román Bodegas y Viñedos in 1997, under the Designation of Origin Toro, and completed with Garmón Continental, an exclusive Ribera del Duero project that began in 2014.

Three different approaches to Duero Valley viticulture based on respect for each territory’s unique characteristics to create a very personal winemaking philosophy.

Origins

Founded in 1980 by Mariano García in memory of his father, Bodegas Mauro has been committed to excellence from the very beginning. Balanced and elegant wines meant for aging which assert the identity of each terroir and the attributes of the different varieties.

Bodegas Mauro is enclaved in the historic town of Tudela de Duero, in the province of Valladolid, just 19 kilometres from the provincial capital right in the heart of the Duero Valley. Located on the right bank halfway along this great river that embraces the village in a horseshoe shape.

AURELIO'S PHILOSOPHY

My goal is to look for gems regardless of Denominación de Origin, as there are equally exciting wines from Alicante, Pla de Bages, and Almansa as from Rioja, Ribera del Duero or Toro. It's not as if a wine's origin is unimportant; however, I'm not selling a D.O., I'm selling an individual wine. Another key to the style of wines in my portfolio is that many of the winemakers are young and talented, representing the new face of Spanish winemaking. They bring a new point of view to wine quality, as many have traveled internationally and have had a broad exposure to the world of wine. Furthermore, many of these winemakers are inheriting old vineyards, a further key to quality.I hand-select each wine, and my wines reflect the true personality, quality, and character of each vineyard, grape, and the people who make it. The wines are modern but not international, with a balance between fruit and oak, where oak frames fruit flavors. Concentration of fruit character comes from hard work in and understanding of the vineyard, not extraction during fermentation. Finesse, not exclusive of concentration of fruit, is paramount to the style of wines I seek to represent. I always search for wines that provide the best value for the money, whether at $10 per bottle or $100. Finally, I believe the wines in my portfolio represent an authentic expression of Spanish wine.
