Detroit, MI – The Preservation of Jazz Monday Night Music Series is proud to present a special tribute to Black Bottom and Hastings Street, two cultural landmarks in Detroit's rich history of jazz and African American heritage.

This extraordinary event will take place on **January 13th, 2025**, at **Aretha’s Jazz Café**, hosted by Detroit’s own **Mike Bonner**.The evening will feature **two shows**, giving audiences the opportunity to immerse themselves in the sounds and legacy of Detroit's jazz scene:- **Doors open:** 6:00 PM- **First Show:** 7:00 PM- **Second Show:** 9:00 PMTickets: $35

About Black Bottom and Hastings Street
Black Bottom and Hastings Street were vibrant communities in Detroit that flourished in the 1920s through the 1950s. Known for their lively nightlife, the area was home to some of the finest jazz clubs, restaurants, and theaters, attracting legendary artists like Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and John Lee Hooker. These neighborhoods symbolized both the struggle and the triumph of African American culture, fostering musical innovation and community pride.Although urban renewal projects led to the demolition of much of Black Bottom and Hastings Street, their cultural legacy continues to inspire generations of musicians and artists. The Preservation of Jazz Series aims to honor this legacy by showcasing jazz performances that connect audiences to Detroit’s musical roots.
