Three documents. Three years. One revolution. Norwalk Historical Society presents a special America 250 lecture with Mark Albertson.
About this Event

The presents historian and educator Mark Albertson in “A Triad of Documents: America's Road to Revolution” on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM, Mill Hill Historic Park - Town House, 2 East Wall St., Norwalk, CT. Admission is free. Advance registration is required. Light refreshments.

Albertson will examine three documents that reveal the colonists’ changing relationship with Great Britain and their progression from resistance to revolution:

  • The Articles of Association, 1774
  • The Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms, 1775
  • The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, 1776

Together, the documents chart the direction the colonists were heading as they moved from organized protest to armed conflict and, ultimately, independence.

The presentation will also explore a significant message contained within the formal title of the Declaration of Independence. Through the writers’ careful and deliberate use of language, the title announced a political transformation that King George III would have immediately understood.

This lecture is part of the Norwalk Historical Society’s series commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. The Norwalk Historical Society is an America 250|CT Affiliate.
