On April 13, 1945, U.S. soldiers discovered a Nazi death train near Magdeburg, Germany—more than 2,500 Jewish prisoners abandoned to a grim fate. Their liberation became a powerful story of humanity and hope, largely untold until a teacher’s quest for truth brought it to light.Join the City of New Albany for a free panel discussion inspired by the documentary "A Train Near Magdeburg" on Thursday, September 11, from 7–8:30 p.m. at the McCoy Center. The evening will feature reflections from author Matthew Rozell, local filmmaker Mike Edwards, Elizabeth Connelly (daughter of an American liberator), and Dr. Mark Nusbaum (a Holocaust survivor rescued from the train). Together, they will share their unique perspectives on this remarkable story of survival, humanity and reunion.
