Did you ever wonder how a tornado like the one that ripped through Fargo in 1957 came to be known as an "F-5"? Did you know that the Fargo Forum's photographer Cal Olson took the stunning picture featured on the Forum's front page--the story that won a Pulitzer Prize? Have you given thought to poetic reflections that help us to cope with tragedy?Join us on Monday, September 29, at 7:00 p.m. to hear from Catherine McMullen--Olson's daughter--and poet Jamie Parsley. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and we invite you to come early to wander through our Institute for Regional Studies 75th Anniversary Exhibit taking place now through October 8 in the NDSU Memorial Union Gallery. This event is free and open to the public.
Catherine is Professor Emerita of English and Journalism at Concordia College.
Jamie is Rector at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (Fargo), poet in residence at Concordia College, president of the newly reformed North Dakota Poetry Society, and author of Fargo, 1957: An Elegy.
