The Greening of Detroit is a non-profit organization focused on enhancing the quality of life for Detroiters by planting trees, providing job training and involving our youth in the education of the natural environment. They involve Detroiters in the process through community engagement, green spaces, education and jobs.Since 1989, they have planted over 166,000 trees in the City of Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park. They continue to plant along city and residential streets and within parks and playgrounds.
Volunteer with us as we join The Greening of Detroit for a fun filled day of planting trees and helping to expand Detroit’s canopy cover. All ages are welcome and training and tools will be provided on-site.

Please prepare for the following:
- Wear close-toed work shoes / boots
- Bring work / gardening gloves
- Dress for the weather & to get messy (They plant rain or shine, please wear layers)
- Bring water Bottle / Snack (They will have a refillable water jug on site)
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED – The Greening of Detroit requires volunteers to sign up on Eventbrite so volunteers can complete waivers. For your convenience, we will register you for the event on your behalf once you have signed up with us. Your signup here will include the necessary waivers. You will receive a confirmation message from Eventbrite when we have registered you! Please make sure your home address and phone number are up to date.
Because each individual volunteer must complete waivers, we cannot allow group registration for this event: every volunteer must sign up on Bloomerang individually.
You must sign up through Bloomerang by November 12th so we can sign our group up through Eventbrite.
**Please select the specific shift in Step 2 of registration or your spot will not be reserved.**
Parking: We will send you the exact planting site meeting location details as they become available
Attire/Other Info: Please dress for the weather and to get messy. Wear close-toed shoes/boots and bring work/gardening gloves. Please don’t attend and unregister if you don’t feel well. This is a registration-only event.
