Calling all educators, art lovers, and creative minds! Join us for a hands-on, inspiring Altered Book Making Workshop—a unique professional development experience designed specifically for teachers. Our Altered Book theme is: autobiographies!
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to transform old, unwanted books into vibrant and interactive works of art using mixed media, collage, painting, and personal storytelling techniques. Whether you're looking to integrate more creative expression into your curriculum or explore cross-curricular projects, this workshop is for you.
What You’ll Learn:
- Techniques for deconstructing and transforming books
- Mixed media methods including collage, paint, stamps, and interactive techniques
- Ways to use altered books in language arts, history, and art classrooms
- Ideas for student projects that promote reflection, identity, and creativity
Who Should Attend:
- Classroom teachers (K–12)
- Art educators
- Language Arts educators (journaling)
- History educators (timeline)
- Sustainability and Science educators (recycling)
- All materials will be provided for our Altered Book
- Autobiographies, but please bring at least 12 printed photographs (max 3" x 4" including some smaller images), ephemera, or materials to personalize your life story. Also consider how you would describe who you are, in 12 pages! You may choose to start with your childhood or with who you are right now.
All materials and lunch are included.
The registration fee is $178 per person or 7 ETTC hours.
The SRI&ETTC is proud to partner with The Noyes Museum of Art of Stockton University to host a Teachers' Workshop for New Jersey educators at Stockton University's Kramer Hall in Hammonton, NJ. The Southern Regional Institute (SRI) and Educational Technology Training Center (ETTC) provides professional development opportunities for preK-12 educators, technology coordinators, school administrators, and other professionals who offer support services to schools.
