Join us for a Mark Samuelian Distinguished Speaker Series talk on the Interconnectivity of Global Conflict with Yaroslav Trofimov, Chief Foreign-Affairs Correspondent for The Wall Street Journal; Author of No Country for Love, Our Enemies Will Vanish, and others.

In partnership with Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus and the Miami Dade College Honors College, the World Affairs Council of Miami invites you to learn about the geopolitical connections and international relationships between today's global conflicts.

Tickets are complimentary; donations are welcome.

Free guest parking will be available in Bldg. 7 Garage, 500 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL (see below for directions)

Speaker bio:

  • Yaroslav Trofimov is the author of three books of narrative non-fiction and one novel. He has worked around the world as a foreign correspondent of The Wall Street Journal since 1999, and has served as the newspaper’s chief foreign-affairs correspondent since 2018. Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, he was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in international reporting in 2023, for his work on Ukraine, and in 2022, for his work on Afghanistan, and won the National Press Club award for political analysis in 2024. His honors include an Overseas Press Club award for coverage of India as well as the Washington Institute gold medal for the best book on the Middle East. His latest non-fiction book, Our Enemies Will Vanish, was a finalist of the 2024 Orwell Prize and won the 2024 Peterson Literary Prize.

Moderator bio:

  • Aaron Rosen serves as President and Founder of the World Affairs Council of Miami since 2021 and Director, U.S. and Global Sales at Rescue Metal Framing. He is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York and a 2024 Eisenhower Fellow. Prior to returning home to South Florida, Aaron researched international technology policy and Russian affairs with the Alfa Fellowship Program in Moscow. He previously worked as a Washington, D.C.-based specialist in U.S. foreign policy for MUFG Bank, formerly the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, and completed a graduate fellowship with the European Parliament in Brussels.
    Aaron has experience working with various legislative and diplomatic bodies, including the U.S. Congress, German Bundestag, Australian House of Representatives, Canadian House of Commons, Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies, Embassy of Mexico in the United States, and the European Parliament Liaison Office to the U.S. Congress. Aaron earned a dual masters concentrated on U.S. foreign policy and international history from the George Washington University and the London School of Economics, and holds a bachelors in international relations and comparative politics from the University of Central Florida. Aaron was born in Southern California and raised in South Florida. He speaks German, Spanish, and intermediate Russian.
