A Stroll Around the Strand
About this Event
Join us for a lovely stroll around the Strand and several of the small streets leading off of it.
Please meet at Temple Station (WC2R 2PH). Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the start time. The walk will finish on Villiers Street (between Embankment and Temple Stations).
We will start off with a look at an open air Art Exhibition and then go on a voyage of discovery to a forgotten station, the lesser known Strand Church (St Mary’s), see where the first BBC radio broadcast was made as well as a Tudor chapel. You will also find out where you could play chess while having a meal and hear about a M**der at the Savoy. The Adams brothers, the Adelphi, and a militant organisation fightling for equality for women will also be mentioned during the walk.
This is one of 25 "A Wander through Westminster" Walks offered by the City of Westminster Guides in conjunction with the Inside Out Programme that celebrates open-air art and culture in Westminster. Why not join in other Inside Out activities on offer: https://www.westminster.gov.uk/leisure-libraries-and-community/arts-and-culture/experience-inside-out-westminsters-free-outdoor-arts-festival?
