Wir freuen uns, Sie im Rahmen des Ausstellungsprogramms Idar-Oberstein schmückt sich zur Vernissage der Ausstellung „A Shared Silence“ einzuladen – eine Hommage iranischer Künstler*innen, die in Idar-Oberstein studieren und studiert haben, an Menschen in ihrem Heimatland. „A Shared Silence“ zeigt die Werke von dreizehn iranischen Schmuckkünstler*innen, deren Arbeit von Erfahrungen wie Vertreibung, Verlust, Unterdrückung und anhaltenden inneren Umbrüchen geprägt ist. Ihre Kreationen bewegen sich in einem Zwischenraum – zwischen Erinnerung und Gegenwart, Nähe und Distanz, Hoffnung und Verzweiflung. Die Ausstellung ist aber auch eine Brücke: mittels der Erfahrungen der Künstler*innen verbindet sie Schmerz und Hoffnung, Vergangenheit und Gegenwart, und ruft uns dazu auf, für Freiheit und Würde einzustehen.Die Eröffnung findet am Mittwoch, 1. April 2026, 18:30 Uhr in der Villa Bengel und via Livestream über den Instagram-Account der Jakob Bengel-Stiftung (jakobbengel) statt, mit Grußworten von Peter Wenzel, Landrat Miroslaw Kowalski und einer kurzen Einführung von Prof. Theo Smeets.

We warmly invite you to the opening of the exhibition “A Shared Silence” – a homage to the people of Iran by Iranian artists who have studied or are currently studying at the Department of Gemstones and Jewellery in Idar-Oberstein. The works of these 13 artists tell stories of oppression, expulsion, and loss, dealing with the experience of constant internal upheaval and uncertainty. In the in-between of past and present, proximity and detachment, hope and despair, their work enables us to connect and stand up for freedom and human dignity.
The opening takes place on
Wednesday, 1st April 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Villa Bengel
and is streamed live on Instagram (jakobbengel) with an introduction by Peter Wenzel, head of the Jakob-Bengel-Foundation, Miroslav Kowalski, head of the district authority and Professor Theo Smeets, head of the Department of Gemstones and Jewellery of Trier University of Applied Sciences in Idar-Oberstein.
A publication will be released accompanying the exhibition.
“A shared silence” is part of the exhibition programme “Idar-Oberstein adorned” with the support of the city of Idar-Oberstein.
