Join Elinor Crane and Nancy Collin as they discuss Snowville, the hometown of the unknown but heroic Louis Féron, whose story is filled with mystery and intrigue. Louis was a French goldsmith, artist, and sculptor who worked in New York City and did work for Tiffany & Co., among other jewelers. He later retired to Snowville, NH, with his wife, Leslie Snow.
During the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, Mr. Féron executed a secret sculpture at the behest of Mrs. Paul Mellon, as an emissary for former First Lady Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy, for the late President Kennedy’s grave at Arlington National Cemetery. This sculpture was paid for by the President’s father (Joseph P. Kennedy) and later purchased by the John F. Kennedy Presidential Museum and Library in 1977. This is the story of how the sculpture was manufactured, but never made it to the grave, and how 50 years later it was rediscovered.
