A second FREE Women's Self Defense clinic is being presented on 1-3-26.
Sponsored by the Advocate Safe House of Glenwood Springs. Open to the public. Focus is on young ladies home here in the valley from College\University Holiday Break - but open to all Ladies in our community.
Clinic presented by Mike Duffy - Checkmate Martial Arts West.

- Situational Awareness
- Verbal\physical de-escalation techniques
- Use of the Buddy System (on campus\bars\clubs\in public)
- Calling for help is at least 10 mins away - put some personal protection tools in your toolbox. Personal protection involves safeguarding well-being from physical or psychological harm.
- Basic strikes
- Basic defense against cloth and body grabs.
- Basic ground defense - get back to your feet\escape and evade.
- What is the difference between cover and conceal\run, hide, escape (Brown University campus and the Glenwood Meadows Mall Parking Lot shootings will be referenced).
- Brief coverage when encountering an edged or ballistic weapon threat.
- Q&A for all attendees.
